Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about our project. Can't find the answer you are looking for? Use our contact page to get in touch!

How is the project funded?

So far all costs are being met by the funding from the Community Energy Fund. No resident’s money has been spent on exploring the project. Options for how we could pay for the installation of solar panels themselves are being explored.

Who is working on the project?

Kate Crossland is leading the project, and is working with the Flats Management Board. The Residents Association are supportive. A local solar energy company, Element-5, are leading the work on exploring how the panels would be installed. We’ve also had advice from legal firms and support from other community energy organisations.

Are the flat roofs strong enough?

Yes, our advice so far is the roofs can hold the weight of the solar panels with no issues. But we do know the roofs will need repairs and replacing. We can wait until this is done, or we can remove the solar panels to do this.

What about houses on the Estate?

Can I get involved?

Houses will benefit from the work we do on planning and conservation permissions. We've also hope to offer a discount  to houses residents on installation- please contact Element-5 to discuss.

Yes please! We’re a small team and we’d be very open to more help. Please get in touch via our contact page or by email to hhgesolar@gmail.com

What will happen next?

We'll keep our community updated through letters and community meetings, and through this webpage.
